Erik Buell, a mechanical engineer, first began designing racing motorcycles in 1973 and was a top level racer himself. He worked for four years at Harley-Davidson, then started his own company, Buell Motorcycles in 1983 and eventually sold to Harley Davidson. Buell sold over 135,000 sportbikes in the last 15 years.

Erik Buell Racing LLC was founded with the vision of re-establishing the business. EBR believed it important to expand their motorcycle models through racing success. EBR has already achieved the racing podium in AMA Pro Superbike events, is preparing to launch three new sport motorcycle models, has produced 100 exotic 1190RS Superbikes.
